YOUTH DOCENT PROGRAM
The Cincinnati (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center are honored to provide docent training to Cincinnati area youth. The program gives tri-state area teenagers a unique opportunity to learn about the Underground Railroad and the history and present-day slavery and freedom, and to share that knowledge with the public. Scholars by learning the history presented in the museum and being exposed to post-secondary educational opportunities.
Ambassadors by serving as docents in exhibits and improving their communication and presentation skills.
Leaders by participating in activities that teach students about their role in society and ways they can influence the world around them.
Stewards by receiving financial literacy education to jump-start their future.
Training with National Underground Railroad Freedom Center staff and adult docents will prepare them to serve as volunteers in the museum’s permanent exhibits and in the community.
